Timaru is a very beautiful City. It's coastal position & close driving distance to the Southern Lakes makes it one of the preferred holiday options for Sydneysiders. Most Timaru people are honest & friendly !

Yep there's heaps of grapes and vineyards in Marlborough near Blenheim. Almost as many as in Nelson! We have heaps too on the Waimea Plains. You're right about the weather - it's not summer really until about mid-Jan. This time is always unsettled before Christmas. The best weather in Nelson is from mid-Jan till about end of April usually. You'll see! Our temps here are always moderate in summer cos we have a nice sea breeze as opposed to desert conditions. We really get ahead in the sunshine stakes in winter though when it's usually frosty mornings which turn into stunning clear days. I'm so glad I have my own private weather forecasters. Between you, my painter and Richard I keep well informed about the weather. That's great. Queenstown sounds chilly! Hey I had dinner ready for you, but you didn't turn up. Hugs and kisses xoxox Sally
