Woodlawn Cemetery is an historical resting place of many pioneering African-American residents. In 1996 the neglected cemetery was significantly restored with efforts made to identify the names and location of those buried. Today these names are on several pillars on the north side of the cemetery. Currently no burials are permitted since historic records do not exist and burial locations remain uncertain.
