The Autonomist's conversations

A perfect photo. It captures the real sense of the valley and gives you an idea of the elevation of the Dripping Springs.

Heck yeah! I highly recommend it! First and foremost, you'll have to be prepared to an eight hour hike and have plenty of water. The other concern is weather, you DO NOT want to get stuck up top when it rains or snows. Some of those rocks are nearly impassable when moist. Ropes and that stuff is not needed.

So, to hike it, park your ride at the Dripping Springs picnic area next to La Cueva (where the old hermit lived) and take the trail that goes around to the back of those large rocks where the hermit lived. A trail takes you past a wooden fence and towards Fillmore canyon. This is where it gets a little bit sketchy. The trail ends but picks up again on the top part of a small ridge that should be directly in front of you as you past that wooden fence. From here on up to the top is not a trail but just a general direction. There are little stacks of rocks that do point the way but no trail. Good luck! My girlfriend and I are planning on a spring hike.

It's a shame what the city is doing to downtown. Someone needs to yank the reins from their hands before they ruin every business there! The incredible waste of taxpayer's money on all of these huge, wasteful building projects is going to bankrupt the town. There was nothing wrong w/ the old courthouse that a little money couldn't have fixed. Instead, they are building these huge, expensive and faceless facilities and ruining the wonderful feel of old downtown. Wake up citizens, because when it's gone it's gone and the entire town will look like the corner of Idaho and El Paseo. Congested, strip malls, and hazards to walk around.

Interesting, I used to live at that apartment complex at Branson ave. in 1989-1990, and I know that beutiful sunset very well :) How come you took the shot at that place?

All the best from Sweden // Flagg

Yeah, not many people do really... Most bike riders out here are mountain bike riders, with some roadies. I live in las cruces, and I've seen several more here.

Thanks, I got the name down right now!
