I have the pleasure of driving through this entrance every morning, and have often looked at this magnificent gateway. I knew pieces of the SS Great Britain, and Clifton Suspension Bridge were built at St Vincent's works, but didn't know IKB himself built the gateway - are we sure of that?

From Brian out in Bosnia......top picture Roger..thanks I have one on here but its from the 'predictable' side of the downs and a little sterile...this one of yours must have been what the sailors saw 150 years ago when they returned back up the Avon for a well earned shorebreak...it evokes that 'I've arrived' feeling!

Thank you for the comment Roger, you are absolutely right "Google Earth [and Panoramio] is not a creative photo gallery" but a very valuable medium for discovering our Earth. Thank you for your effort posting your photographs.

However, if we have no objection to people's comment when they say "this is a beautiful photograph, place etc" we shouldn't cross when they point out what is not right there. You may argue if you disagree with the criticism [in this case criticism wasn’t towards you].

Stunning composition, boldley taken in to the light. Perfectley balanced with the building, its shadow and the trees to the right.
