Easily the South island offers the more diverse scenery. The north Island has the best beaches. In general, NZers get friendlier the further south you go. I see your comment was nearly 10 years ago, have you been here yet?

Now 35 +/-5 and no me. Enjoyed my 5 years there.

Ah,kingfish heaven

Great picture! Liked! Greetings from Israel. Ilan

Beautifully clear. Thank you Kiri T. Love it.

Birdlings used to be a excellent place for red cod, but seems to have quietened down now. I can imagine this tree coming down the Rakaia river when it's in flood...

"...oh 'n one leather bootlace, along with that pair of windscreen wiper rubbers, thanks," sez the Kea, (while thinking to himself that if the photographer leaves her boots there I'll unlace them myself! I'm not a silly bird brain!!)

A lot of people would find it hard to beleive it, but most of these stones come from up the Rakaia River, only a short distance further down the beach. Only takes a little rolling in the river and surf to give us the shapes that appear on the beaches. After all, this is what has made the Canterbury Plains over the past thousands of years. Cheers from Christchurch.

Vodka 'n lime, no ice but with a twist of lime leaf... But its a small glass!
