The town is also viking in origin before all the abbey was built and the name selby comes from the viking word to sail-by when they transported wares to trade at market. It has alot of history my town

Very nice photo, very pretty spot. I did some research and found out it was a site for preparations just before the invasion of Normandy. There are a number of images on the internet from that same spot, two of which can be found here from 1944;

It was nice to see the building is still standing as the Roundhouse Hotel.
