Beautifully photographed. I like.

Sorry, folks, y'all are all wrong about the Macon & Birmingham Railroad!

As a member of the now defunct Georgia, Southern and Florida Railroad Historical Society, (of which the M&B was a subsidiary) I know the M&B went through Yatesville, but in town it ran parallel to another railroad. That railroad owned the trestle which you have photographed.

It was known officially as the Atlanta & Florida Railroad (alternately referred to as the Atlanta & Fort Valley or the"Little Southern".) It ran actually between the Federal Pen area branching off the Southern there heading south through Hapeville, Riverdale, Fayetteville, Woolsley, Zetella, Williamson, Zebulon, Meansville, The Rock, Yatesville and south through Culloden, Musella, Roberta, Fort Valley and finally, Perry. Through service ended in 1947 with the line being torn up, iirc, south to Musella. The tracks still exist from Roberta South to Perry.

The M&B headed west towards Thomaston, Crest, Thundering Springs, Woodbury, Cedar Rock, Odessa, Mountville and finally, LaGrange. It ended there. It never went any further west than that. Eastbound from Yatesville it went southeast through some teeny tiny settlements wyeing in with the GS&F just north of the current Macon Airport and on to Macon from there. It ended service in 1927 and was all gone by 1929.

Just thought some of you would like to know for the record.
