My dad worked here in about 1970. We lived here for a little over a year. It still looks the same, just a fresh paint job. To the left (which you cant see in the pic) was a little ice cream shop. Some of the best ice cream you would ever have. To the right and not to far down the road was the fire dept and the local house of ladies, if you get my drift. The ladies would come in to shop or get gas and always leave him a tip of 10 - 20 dollars. Not bad for the times.

Hello, my name is Rocio H, and I'm from City of Reno's Community Relations Department. We are currently cooking on a video story about blighted areas in Downtown Reno. We were hoping you could grant us permission to use your photography in our story. Please email us back at rocio_hernandez94@hotmail.com

Well, guess I have to eat my words! I just looked at the Goldfield map again and located this building. It has been built in the last 15 or so years. In fact, in 1955, we lived in a house between the gas station and the house on the east corner of the same street. The house burned down long ago.

In the mid 1950's this was a soda shop owned by Peedens. All the high school kids hung out here.
