You have caught the atmosphere of the sculpture very well. I have recently visited the site as my uncle was awarde the Crox de Guerre here. I'm sure the plain looked a lot different to his eyes then.
This tree can be found on the beach at Blue Waters. It was blown over by Hurricane Hugo. It has survived and continues to grow, hence its unusual shape!!

To appreciate this picture, zoom in on the small figure on the cliff path. It gives an idea of the scale. Not a walk for those with vertigo!!
