its a nice place for a holiday......its great in winter also with the rugged cliffs and at times huge seas..make great photos..at freshwater etc and that side of the island...
This is the old shot tower on the former site of Hounslow Gunpowder Mills. Molten lead was carried up the tower (100ft) and then put through a type of sieve. As the molten lead dropped through it fell down into water to cool the lead leaving shot that was used in muskets etc. The tower is open on the last Sunday of every month in the afternoon and is free! Worth a visit and the view is worth the stairs! This is a view of the tower from the island opposite that you can visit via a bridge.
