John Stevenson's conversations

Hey Shawn, Here's how we got in(tough going).Do the canoe route backwards for the fastest way in (4 hours)? http://www.myccr.com/canoedb/routeDetails.php?routeid=453 We spent three days fishing twisted lake in July 2010.We also heard the pike fishing was great but the first day was slow.Lots of fish, just nothing special like a great pike lake can be sometimes. The second day my son tried a firetiger rapala and everything changed.Fish on every cast. The only yellow lure I had was a 3 inch kwikfish 5 of diamonds pattern and man did we kill 'em!!! Because we were canoeing we couldn't take our main tackle boxes with us so our choices of lures were limited.Next time we go I'll take some big baits and my musky gear to see how big they really get in there! I think my biggest was 12lbs my son's 10 and too many between 5 and 8lbs to remember and billions of little ones. All on yellow baits. There are some sunken rock islands near the middle of the south arm where we casted and caught till our arms hurt.Trolling in the canoe got us a fish every 5min. all day long. If you hike in it's swampy and buggy.I wouldn't recommend in and out in one day,too much work.Camp for a couple of nights, good sites, clean, deserted lake. Good Luck,John
