Yes, is an old rite, common for all "vikings" around Baltic Sea;-)
When Sun in Midsummer goes down, you must to make fires or closer everywhere. And to help to return Sun, you are to turn "sunwheel" every hour and wait until sunset.
Picture was taken from away and exposition was too fast to catch circle. Actually diameter of this "wheel" was ~5-6 meters
