Peter Hodge's conversations
The area to the left(west)of this pylon is known as 'Randles Sluices' and the bungalow on the edge of the Manchester Ship Canal was where my Grandfather & Grandmother lived. For about 30 years he was employed as the Sluice Master responsible for the canal water level between Latchford & Eastham, the track/path running along the canal was the site of the MSC railway that ran in and out of the old ICI 'Wiggs' & 'Randles' work's.

Thanks for that. It has been corrected on Panoramio, it will take a few weeks on Google Earth.
Regards Pete

You realy MUST try this place. You are assured a warm welcome in authentic surroundings and atmosphere. Don't expect plush seats and gaudy carpet; it's an authentic 14 century wayside Inn.
In winter you are greeted with roaring open fires (too warm if you are within 8 feet of them :-0).
The best kept cellar in Lancashire will satisfy the most demanding of tastes; a first class pint is guaranteed from the fine selection of beers from this purveyor of "REAL ALE".
No loud music; no "undesirables"; very much a true "locals" alehouse.
Sounds to good to be true? Well try it and find out. You will not be dissapointed.
