All those blue boats - how do they remember which one is theirs? Well, it is Essaouira, so it has to be blue.

The only boat in the harbour not (yet) painted in Essaouira Blue - the local colour derived from shellfish.

Apparently, this is not the camel's favourite environment. Over the ridge is an old hippie commune, where Hendrix is reputed to have written Purple Haze. In fact he lived there for around 6 months during that period, so the claim is plaausible and a good story for us tourists.
