lol! Taxing people is like milking cows: you want to get the most milk with the least moo. In Europe, the US is famous for being a place where government gets a lot of moo and very little milk. There you can run a successful party whose main pillar is "low taxes".

In Europe it is very different and taxes are substantially higher, though the UK is still probably one of the places where it is not too bad. Take a look at wikipedia to see about income tax and other taxes in the UK or whichever other country you may want to know.
