Concentrated solar power is reaching high efficiencies now. Solar-Thermal also looks good. I have hopes for solar powered sterling engines. Landfill gas extraction looks like it has great benefits for natural gas capture and subsequent electric generation, but it does emit some CO2. I believe the amount of CO2 emitted is far less damaging than the gas that would be released to the atmosphere if it wasn't captured for use in this manner.

USING FOOD SOURCE CROPS, AGRICULTURAL LAND and TROPICAL VEGETATION for oil crops is a definite NO NO! Do you want to have food for all of us in the future or burn food in your car. Easy choice.

R.E.E. The Spanish electrical grid operator has just published statistics for 2009. They show that all of Spain's wind turbines have only produced 22% of their rated capacity. Since wind turbines also draw back some operational power from the grid, which is not subtracted from their production statistics, my net production estimate of 15% of their rated capacity is probably a more correct figure. This is a very poor production record indeed. If the owners were not allowed to skip out on paying taxes, none of these large scale wind projects would be viable. NONE!
