Skylar,
It is indeed spectacular terrain in one of the best sections of Colorado: the San Juan Mountains. You should plan a visit to Mount Sneffels and the Blue Lakes.
I was doing some Google Earth mountain flying through the San Juans and noticed you also photographed the Smoky Mountains. Both Places Ive lived near and photographed. Nice work!
Sorry to say that this elk, #21 (as seen by the ear tags), was shot and killed about 1 year after I took this photo. A fine elk, one of the hallmarks of the Cataloochee herd, and one of the first to be brought to the Park, was born in Elk Island, Canada. For the story on the shooting see http://yoursmokies.blogspot.com/2009/11/elk-poaching-suspect-in-gsmnp-confesses.html
Thank you for your comment U.A.B. I just happened to be the picture taker who was there to provide a singular window for others, who were not there, into a minute portion of the infinite creation of God that was unfolding to my sight at that time. That moment is now gone forever, but in a sense it has been captured and retained. I took a quick look at your gallery and see that you have been blessed in a number of your pictures to not only record a scene, but to rather convey a mood and unspoken message.

Zion is one of my all time favorite national parks. I would love to go back here for at least a week of backcountry exploring. Like.
Best regards,
Skylar

I posted a couple of the Roan Falls off the South Side just off of SR 261, check them out.

Dutchman's Creek Trail re-route over Lick Mountain begins at large Beech tree across the creek.
