Hello James.. The map I used for Possum Hollow Falls was one of the vicmap topo series.
T8121-3-4-4. (30k). I purchased it online, from their website. (Along with heaps of others..lol).
My partner Gwen & I are interested in waterfalls of all shapes and sizes.
Our interest was fired when we purchased a book in Marysville, after the fires of 2009. The book is "250 Victorian Waterfalls" by Ray Barber & Ian Wacey. ISBN 978-0-646-54331-4. It has been fantastic as a guide to finding some of these gems. They give great details, and a photo of each waterfall. I think we are up to about 45 now. We wont make the 250 as we are hitting 60 and some require bush trekking that is difficult. Interesting you mention no signs 30 years ago.. nothing has changed even now! Parks just hasn't got the money to fix the signage and platforms to most of these gems. Except the showstoppers like Triplet, Hopetoun & Beauchamp Falls. We are retiring to Tassie next year, so will make a start on the 200 I know of over there. You can email me on garth.stephen.e@gmail.com if you wish.
