Howdee Carlee - Google is shooting themself in the foot on this one - Google Maps is basically a smartphone app for people who don't know up from down , east from west ( city folk - who ain't smart enough to pour piss out of a boot ) ! Google Earth ( the most widely used PC based application in the world ) will be the next on their list of things they no longer support which will be the ultimate downfall of Google - in their quest to be the newest and biggest they have forgotten one little item - the early bird might get the worm , but the second mouse gets the cheese !
There are other free photo sharing websites out there - I have a 500px account ( rather sterile and not as friendly as Panoramio , but can sell images there ) , and Flickr is another option for now - bottom line is with the onslaught of technology and Internet options , it may be best to showcase your photographic efforts in a local gallery and be content to be a " local artist " than a pawn of the new world order !
