Bostonian college student with a project of walking across Asia, from Samarqand to Beijing, in his summer vacations. The trip so far has gone through Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Xinjiang, and Gansu, where he's reached Dunhuang. He also spent six months or so in the Tibetan Areas a few years ago. This is all pretty contingent on political trouble, visas, energy, and money. He has a little point-and-shoot and speaks bad Russian, OK Chinese and is working on the Tibetan.
