The Timber Raft - Circa early 1880's this is a tribute to the era of timber rafts on the Ottawa River. Felled timber (mostly white pine) was lashed into rafts and navigated down the Ottawa River through many rapids to Montreal for shipment to Europe. It was said that a man could not walk between the trees in stands of white pine when Europeans first arrived. Now the white pine is very rare in the Ottawa Valley.
A free-standing mural with three dimensional components, is a collective achievement by many people and stands as a grand entrance to Pembroke's waterfront.
