I imagine the circle is lost much of the time due to the rise and fall of the stream. It is pur coincidence that it was like this when I was there. Behind the tudor house, there is an even older cottage which was part of the local inn/staging post for travellers in the days when, on horse back or horse drawn carriage, it was still a good day's journey to London from here.

For quaint, read scenic, not strange. At one stage, there would only of been the ford. The bridge would of been added at a much later date, I would guess the 1700's. I'm not sure of the weight loading of the bridge, but suffice to say, it is sensible for the higher axled heavy trucks to use the ford, and cars to use the bridge.

A church of this stature is seldom seen in a small village. It is a sign and recognition to the wealth of the area in the middle ages built on weaving, silk and a little on saffron.

If you zoom in on GE, there are loads of similar shots. I trust you can see why I made the effort to get up really early in the moring to get the shot. The bridge gets so crowded, you cannot see the infrastructure of the thing.

Danke für den Link, Sepp!!

Echt Klaus? :-) Hm - Nostalgie!!!

Liebe Grüße, Sonny
