tex34692000's conversations

According to Dee Brown's research: These Buffalo Hunters were in violation of the treaty regarding buffalo. In two years (1872-1874)the Buffalo Hunters killed 3,550,000 buffalo. This was a plan of Gen. Sheridan to defeat the Indians by starvation. "Let them exterminate the buffalo..." The Comanche attacked directly at Adobe Walls - their horses stumbled into prairie dog holes, and the gunfire from the Buffalo Hunters was deadly accurate. The range of their weapons extended nearly a mile, and with scopes. The Indians (Southern Cheyenne, Arapaho, Comanche and Kiowa) resorted to their old tactic of circling - with a braves driving into Adobe Walls for close contact. After a few attempts the Indians saw the futility of their attack and withdrew. There were 15 Indian KIA and many more wounded. Unknown to the Indians was the damage they inflicted on the Buffalo Hunters.
