I am on a virtual trip from London to Australia, using the photographs in Panoramio to illustrate what is found on the way, going at a pace as if I was walking. I was hoping to make this photo Day 25. My aim is to contact the photographers, to ask them about what they see in their photograph, and by doing so, discover if within each of us there are common themes as to what we take, why we take and why we share online. It is in support of Gill Hick's Draw the Line initiative. She challenged us to draw a line, so I thought of the biggest one I could. You can find more on both the MAD for Peace group in Facebook (and who Gill Hicks is), and my To Australia by Click group.
I like this picture because you have artfully used colour and its absence, composition and line to produce a very high quality and balanced result.
If you wish to contribute your thoughts on this image I would be very grateful. Equally if you do not wish to be part of this perhaps whimsical journey I will respect your wishes and edit the log to remove your photo. With best wishes, John

I like your picture as it is a moment captured, you must have been lucky to get the butterfly at that point, but also because the butterfly is old, so it makes me think about life in its entirety. So the picture contains an instant, and the butterflies lifetime all in the same shot.

Thank you for visiting my photo's.
I dicovered this place on the way home during my 2008 vacation. I had never seen anything like that before, so I took a series of photographs.
I wish you all the best in completing your line.
I'm gone visit your Panoramio page to see how far you are.
I just returned yesterday from my 2009 vacation, so I have to put some more photo's on my Panoramio page. I hope you will visite my page again in the furure.
Dear John,
Thanks for nice words and interest in my pictures and especially this one. It was taken during quite a hot summer 1992, byt the end of a morning with an old Pentax camera. As a colour blind person (well, lightly...), i usually can hardly see red things such as flowers or fruits over the green but this time, those poppies on their wheatfield really exploded to my sight.
I was heading a summer camp with young kids around 10 years old. We were walking for 2 or 3 hours on the road to the farm we were going to sleep when we stopped around this field. kids are noisy you know. And this view was on the contrary very peaceful. The light was warm and i hopes it could be a nice picture. It is i think. Probably not my prefered FIELDS picture but one of my best FLOWERS pictures.
Feel free to use it as you like. i'm not sure to have understood everything (i'm not a facebook user) but this draw a line thing is a nice idea.
All the best,
Olivier

I like this photograph because of the way you have used the curling lines in the scenery to give it shape and to break the components of the picture their own area. And I like snow!
