These ruins were not used by Patton during the desert training operations of 1942-43. There is rumor they are the remains of stage stop, but there is no confirmation of that. They are most likely a part of the mining operations in the Palen Pass. There appears to be three or four separate rooms, several areas that could have been corrals. Cannot verify a water source. The bunkers and many tank tracks are well inland from Hwy 177 off the Palen Pass rd heading to Blythe. Fort Coxcomb is across Highway 177 from Palen Pass Rd.
I was at a marked Desert lily preserve so I assumed. I guess that's not a good idea. Thanks for the info. I didn't know. These were definitely on the dunes.
Thanks Richard I didnt know exactly how this worked when I placed the Desert Center Drive In (Oasis) picture. I've been there many times and am sorry to hear it hasn't reopened.
