This is the home of Matlock Rugby Union Football Club. It is one of the premier clubs in Derbyshire and also a thriving youth section with teams from Under 6 to Colts. There is a cracking good bar and always a warm welcome to visitors.

Please note correct spelling is Clipstone. There was a village called Clipstone in North Nottinghamshire at the time of the Domesday Book. A new village (called "New Clipstone" to give its full name) when the pit opened in the 1920s. The older part of the village was recently renamed Kings Clipstone (from "Old Clipstone") - in some sort of recognition of Clipstone's other claim to fame as the home for a hunting lodge used by King John in the 13th century. The remnants of the lodge could be seen until vandals stole the remaining stones.

I take it you know the fabled legend attached to this church concerning virgin brides.
