This view is looking south from Highway 1, Pacific Coast Highway as we're heading south toward Jenner. It's an area we call "the cow section" since there are free range cattle in this area that are often strolling in the middle of the road. The views along here are spectacular, especially on a clear day, Mount Tam and Point Reyes can be seen in the distance (upper right) about 80 miles away.
Friday a week ago (July 18, 2008) Gualala received a surprise visit from the King of Jordan and his entourage, as they traveled south on Hwy 1 from Seattle.
There are no cars in Venice. I don't remember even seeing bicycles, scooters, or even skateboards. But that's probably because the tiny cobblestone "streets" aren't really made for mechanized transportation. Transport is exclusively done by boat. So you have Mail boats, Fire Boats, Ambulance Boats, Police Boats, UPS and Fedex delivery boats, etc.
The Cioccolateria was a little place near our hotel that offered over 30 flavors of hot chocolate, Italian style.
I fell in love with Cioccolate in Italy. It's usually as thick as pudding (the spoon floats) and a very dark blend. It seems to need a sweetener added separately and is piping hot, so be careful on the first taste.

This is a view of Highway 1 looking north. It was taken about 20 miles north of Jenner.

Anchor Bay beach is just visible in the far distance, center of the picture (that little stretch of sand).
