The village school of Kratero was built in 1911 and was built from local stones quarried from the nearby hillside, along with the church of Saint Nikolas - they were the two main buildings of the village and were spared from damage in the 1947 burning of the village.
This is the main church of Kratero village and was built from the stones of an older church back in the early 1840's and was consecrated in 1843. The churchyard is where most of our ancestors lay and also contains the tomb of our Makedonomachoi, Pavlos Rakovitis.
