Dear Joaquim,
I sent this email message to you at joaqantunes@yahoo.com, but it was undeliverable and I received a message that this email address for you, which I found on Fickr, was no longer operative. I am resorting to the only way that I can find to contact you. Sorry that the message doesn't relate to this photograph.
"For the next four weeks, I will be teaching a group of students, mainly from China, who are starting their academic studies at London South Bank University. Altogether, there are eight groups that will be studying a pre-study English Course, and each group is named for a London Square - the idea being that they research as many aspects of "their" square as they can and create a poster and presentation which will go towards assessing their mastery of English.
My group's name is "Berkeley Square", and I decided that I would look for a photo of a nightingale (from the wartime song, A Nightingale Sang in Berkeely Square) to use as an identifying mark for the group. I found your image of Luscinia megarhynchos which would be perfect to use, and I wanted to ask your permission to do so.
The way that I would use the picture would be simply within the group - a small group on the classroom door and on any PowerPoint slides that I use in the teaching. I would like it to serve as a symbol for the group.
I do hope that you are able to consent to this use of what is a truly magnificent photograph.
Many thanks for your kindness. I look forward to hearing from you."
