On two previous visits, 6,926 foot Chickamin Peak was obscured by cloud. Shouldering in at right are 6,151 foot Alta Mountain and Rampart Ridge.

Gold Creek Pond was made out of a gravel pit after construction of Interstate 90 over nearby Snoqualmie Pass in the early 1980s.

On top of the ridge above Wanapum Vista on Interstate 90. Sculpture by David Govedare. For the story: www.spokaneoutdoors.com/vanstory.htm. In the distance at left is the I-90 bridge over the Wanapum Lake reservoir (the Columbia River). A wildfire was burning in the Saddle Mountains in the far distance at left, accounting for the haze.

Actually, I think the rain is falling on the Kitsap Peninsula, in front of the Olympics. The red speck at the center is a parasail.

Chamberlain Lake Rest Area, Washington Highway 14, above BNSF Railroad Tunnel #8 and the Columbia River. Actually, Chamberlain Lake is about 1/2 mile east (right), cut off by the railroad from Bonneville Dam's reservoir on the Columbia.
