Jeroen, About that composition, I was very fortunate not to get me and the camera very wet here. I was standing on top of that big fallen tree and had to place the left tripod leg out on a limb to the left. The tree is covered in moss, which was of course very wet, and the footing wasn't great. This spot is definitely one of those 'no risk, no reward' sort of things.

Thank you, Jeroen and sixten. I mentally planned this one for several years and I am very happy with what I walked away with.

I really appreciate that compliment, Traveling Dragon. It is my opinion that the foundation of any good photograph rests on composition. It is the one thing that I really strive for.

Thank you, Jeroen. I was surprised that I did get it done handheld. And I really don't remember why I didn't just use my tripod anyway - I think probably because of the extreme angle. Either way, I'm pretty happy with it!

Draken, yep - this is also a Great Blue Heron, not to be confused with the Little Blue Heron that I discovered during a day later.

Thanks a bunch, Erik. The bird was very kind to stand still! Correct about the tree - one that I typically just refer to as a cypress.

Hello, richt.oldi and Patty. I'm very happy that you like this one!
