Military check points like these employ friendly soldiers who like to see Americans. It always helps to know a little bit of Spanish because they usually don't know any English!

Thank you )))) I am very pleased.

The Sea of Cortes overwhelms this beautiful drive down a rugged rock highway. The scenery was spectacular! Hwy 5 hugs cliffs like this one and winds through the Baja desert. This is a must drive for any one who wants adventure away from the luxuries of an American Circle K. Take a dependable 4x4!

These cabana umbrellas stretch across the beach. Fabulous surf casting beach! Camping was fabulous!

Photo taken 40 miles South Puertetos Mexico. Great view of the Sea of Cortez. This is how the road looks mostly all the way to Hwy 1 - except on the dunes.

There are sand dunes on the South side of San Felipe Mexico where residence take their 4x4's and ride them up & down the sand hill. ...all night long! ...only in Mexico!

I stopped for a picture as my FJ is overtaken by the spectacular beauty of the Sea of Cortez. This road is smooth but hard sharp rocks chew tires and there is no gas for 175 miles. Great ride!

South of Loredo Mexico about 6 miles.

This is a fabulous place to stay about 5 miles to the West of Mex 1. Turn West at the Pineapple plant just South of San Quintin. The Desert Inn San Quintin.

Just West of Santa Maria and the Sea of Cortez in Baja Mexico.
