To be honest, I don't know if there is public access. To be as non-intrusive as possible I avoided any residences in the area. I started hiking at the canal that begins right at the Black Canyon Dam and the Black Canyon Hwy - followed the canal's north side for a quarter mile then cut straight across west toward the north end of the butte. From there I got on top of the butte and hiked it's entire rim. Beautiful hike. Saw about 30 deer in the small valley just to the east of the butte. I'm guessing there's a better way to get in there.
Can't seem to get enough hiking in - but I'm working on it.
