I was born in Charlotte, NC, but lived most of my life in Miami. Six years ago, I moved back to North Carolina, finding a magical mountain chalet just north of Lake Lure. My work is mostly nature still lifes, and I use my history as a landscape painter to influence my composition and use of color. My art can be seen at, and I post regularly in my Blue Ridge Mountains photo blog, I use a "Chinese" Kodak point-and-shoot for all of my work. I welcome your comments and suggestions.

This was a screen capture from a video that I made from the Amtrak excursion train that climbed through the Old Fort "Loops" on Halloween. It was built in the 1890's to commemorate the completion of the Southern Railway over the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is totally gravity fed.

Shout out.......''Free street''...........and they all run out.

Robert Mills, the architect for the Washington Monument, is credite with designing this beautiful structure. Earlier, he also designed the Landsford Canal east of Chester, S.C., and a bridge over that canal is believe to be older than Poinsett. The fact that he used this Gothic arch sets this bridge apart from all others. Well done KEV. Enjoy this season. VANN
