macnauc's conversations

I have no idea why the architect (Horace Roberts of Westport Ontario) put the 'back' door (at left, beside the garage) and 'front' door (to the right of the kitchen windows) on the same side of the house, facing the road. We never used the so called front door. We'd have been better to have enlarged the kitchen or added a main floor laundry room, although the stand along laundry room was an invention of the late 1960s. There were also two doors out of the back of the house. When a 24 x 16 foot living room was built onto the back of the house one of the rear doors was closed in to form shelves in the dining room, and the other became the door into the new 1957 living room. Roberts must have been obsessed by doors because there is also a door at the back of the garage onto what remains of the original terrace. The house was also unusual for its time in that it has, in addition to a full height basement, a flight of stairs up into uninsulated but roomy attic space.

In Jerusalem there are at least two competing tomb locations. We should remember that several centuries had passed before Constantine's mother, Queen Helen, travelled to Palestine and picked out the sites that since that time have stood in for places of retrospective significance to Christianity.

It most certainly was.

Very beautiful architecture it looks like British stile mixed with German.

It's nice to look at the old bunkers in Sydney Mines. It's like proof that we were a part of the war.

That sounds like a ton of fun!

lovely. that little plant is called 'herb robert'.

wonderful eye you have...you don't just look. you see.

isn't that the funniest building in Canada?
