The road before and after this bridge consisted of large potholes linked by small patches of tarmac, not really what you'd call a road. But the missing bridge was a surprise. There was a distinct lack of anything resembling government here, and of course being a National Highway its maintenance would be administered from Delhi and not at state level. At the current rate, the bridge will take years to repair. But I know that British road users do seem to moan about the smallest surface defect.
bcnSunny. Let us leave that argument now. I'd like to share a video of a motorcycle ride some Indian's made into this territory. You can see it at www.60kph.com. Gaurav Jani from Mumbai ride through Arunachal and documented his journey. It's such a nice movie.
Jeff Hi. I'd like to ask about the road you took in this region. I'm planning to ride a motorcycle from the main highway G318, east towards Dinggye. I wonder if you travelled this route and can tell me about the condition of the road? Peter@freespiritadventure.com. Many thanks Peter.
This is the last bridge across the Siang River. Locals told me there was a road to Tuting over 100kms further north up the river, but that the culverts and bridges had not yet been built.
I was on an extended motorcycle Tour of NE India having ridden out of Delhi, nearly 4000kms away.
I explore, design and run Motorcycle Tours to distant corners and special places across the Indian sub-continent, including Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan and Sri Lanka.
Peter Francon's conversations
IInteretsing to see Nepal from the far side of teh bridge. Nice picture.
