A very long way, JB, and still in use...

Came across you photos while surfing the old South Gippland railway line of my youth. My, how the suburbs have spread. Great photos. Thanks for sharing them.

Lovely photos of the old Port and quite artistically taken. They transported me back to the late 50s when as a small boy I used to play on the jetty while dad was in the pub! Thanks for the memories.

The narrowest (and oldest) of the bridges - the one on the left, was the one that World War 2 Prisoners of War were marched over en route to the prison camp of Kinkaseki. From mempry, the prison camp was about 200 metres behind the camera. Go to Google Images and type in Kinkaseki POW camp for more images.

Thanks for the comment Andrey. I was a little younger and stronger when I took that photo. I have looked at your photos. You have some wonderful photos. I always regret not visiting Burma. The borders were closed at the time. Come visit Australia and spend your money here :) Google Translation: Спасибо за комментарий Андрей. Я был немного моложе и сильнее, когда я взял эту фотографию. Я посмотрел на ваши фотографии. У вас есть несколько замечательных фотографий. Я всегда жалею, что не посетил Бирму.Границы были закрыты в то время. Приезжайте в Австралию и тратить свои деньги здесь :)

I'd like to explore his town.

Its a monument to the men from all over the world who built the Snowy Mountains Scheme and started Australias ski resorts it resembles an early type steam shovel.
