This is a very good photo, Fred. This park sustained a lot of abuse from the late 60s, when it was "Malcolm X" park--which is why one sees damaged artwork.

There used to be a sundial about where you were standing to take this photo. What happened to it?

I just noticed that you are not a resident of DC, therefore you wouldn't know the history of this park.

A magnificent garden and a great asset but this is hardly a pagoda. Such a building is a worship centre, always of an odd number of storeys (at least in Japan). We would love to visit this garden but, sadly, never will. Keep up the good work.

Soviet style architecture but nice renovated hotel inside. Had a nice room overlooking the garden in the rear for a week while attending a conference at the Czech Technical University.
