JD_fla's conversations

This was taken in 1963 I was with VW-4 Hurricane Hunters

These are the cars the Governors used at the convention in Glacier National Park the summer on 1961 I remember cause I filled them with gas at the general store in Swift current.

I remember this hole I used a 5 iron and landed on right side of green

Thank You Sandi for your service and rest in peace

JD Manion USN 1962-1966

I could not help but notice the comments. I was stationed at Roosy Road from 64-66 then musterd out in August of 66. I worked at AFWR as an RD3. Bob, you are right about Fri/Sat nights. My bunk was in the center section of the barracks. Seemed like all the noise sure came up to us. I was there aslo during the Dominican Crisis and the jet fighters would take off over the barracks. Seemed like the enjoyed kicking in the afterburners as they did, especially the after midnight flights. I have been back to Puerto Rico a number of times and plan a trip this summer. I also hope this time to get on base to go see the barracks again and the changes that took place with AFWR after I left those many years ago. Going to try scanning the AFWR patch pic in. This may not work. But if it does, see if you recognize it. We designed it in 65-66. My older brother was at Roosy at the same time i was. He lived in the center barracks on the second level. We used to play a lot of poker there.

Landed at Millington in April, 1967. Never flown - or been out of New England before. Did reserve boot camp out of North 76 then on the AFun(P), MechFun and AME(A). Attached to barracks South 32. Home to Boston in late August. Scotch Canadian's photos are from that time and bring back special memories. I got back to Memphis twice over the years, as Curator of the Baseball Hall of Fame, but never had enough time to get back out to Millington. I was attached to reserve squadron VA 912 at NAS South Weymouth, Mass for the remainder of my military commitment. Worked on A4Bs. South Weymouth is currently being torn down by my brother's company. He salvaged the sign that hung over our maintenance facility. It now hangs over my garage. I went into the Navy only because of my draft status. It has been an important part of who I am ever since!

Thank you. You have some beautiful photo's

I just read that this turned into a sink hole.. We in Florida know all about sink holes

Before the Fire

I lived in this area in 1967 and caught this train every morning
