November 11th, 2014, within the framework of the centenary of the Great War, was inaugurated near Arras the international Memorial of Notre-Dame-de-Lorette. The Memorial, established on the tray, in the southeast of the national necropolis, the biggest French military cemetery, is drawn by the architect Philippe Prost: a ring of a perimeter of 345 m, on which will be registered, without distinction of nationality, rank or religion and in order alphabetical, the names of 580 000 soldiers of any nationalities died in French Flanders and in Artois between 1914 and 1918. The Region Nord-Pas de Calais, in the contact of Belgium, was one of the major theaters of the first world conflict on the western front. If are unwound there terrible fights between French people and Germans at first (1914-1915), then from the spring, 1915 between the troops of the German Empire and those of the British Empire; The latter aligned men(people) come from the United Kingdom (Englishman, Scot, Welshman(Welsh people), Irishman(Irish people)), but also distant possessions of the Crown: Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, India. Men(people) come from the whole world thus fought(disputed) on the ground of Flanders and Artois and a large number died there.
Fabelhaft. Gefällt mir sehr gut. Viele Grüße aus Bayern. W.S.
