D. Moeller's conversations

Normally I used my iPhone to obtain the geo positioning. But sometimes when that failed me, I had to rely on google maps and place them manually.

D. Moeller: Your photos are splendidly done. Your composition is incredible. Your photos are absolutely riveting. They are important. They are thought-provoking. They are sad. Many are beautiful tributes to the victim. The people who erected the memorials should be pleased that you are further memorializing their loved ones with your photos. I have always been fascinated and saddened by roadside memorials. Your photos and this website are absolutely captivating. Thank you. Seth Simpson

Here is another article about this tragic story, and a photo of Kirsten M. Truslow, one of the two 13 yr. old girls in the stolen Saturn: http://www.highlandnews.net/news/article_b0fd577b-fe78-52ee-9e50-ec2f06d7ad9a.html

Text of the story: Highland teens killed in crash Posted: Wednesday, July 5, 2006 10:00 pm

Two 13-year-old girls were killed June 27 near Phelan when the Saturn they were driving went out of control and skidded into the opposing lane of traffic. California Highway Patrol investigators said the girls were in a stolen car westbound on Highway 18 at Caughlin Road when their car drifted to the right shoulder. The driver apparently overcorrected and lost control, swerving into the eastbound lane. There a Toyota Tundra pickup truck crashed into the driver's side of the Saturn, killing both girls instantly. The driver of the Saturn was wearing a seatbelt; the passenger was not. Investigators also reported finding &#8220controlled substances and drug paraphernalia” in the Saturn. The girls were identified as Kirsten Truslow and Christina Dancel, both 13 and from Highland. The driver of the Toyota was identified as Luis Herrera, 44, of Reseda. His passenger was identified as Wilson Garcia, also of Reseda. They were treated for minor injuries; both were wearing seatbelts at the time.

Thank you for all the pics you take. I wish everyone didi not pass away in any accident. I think the crosses or monuments are important , and you taking pics is just as important as a form of documentation. I hope you can make a book one day!.

On February 23, 2003 a family of four was traveling to Temecula California to drop of a tool box to her husband. as she was driving back to Palmdale the mother of four along with her husband cousin the mother Marisol lost control of her pick up truck ( Nissan frontier) and directly immerge to the cold murky aqueduct water. her one(1) year old baby Oscar Antonio Morales passed instantly due to the shock. as the truck flipped over the power system got locked and could not open the door to escape, as the truck got filled with water her two children. a ten year old boy Raul jr along with his 5 year old sister passed away from hyperthermia and lack of oxygen. paramedics pronounce them dead at scene. the 14 year old girl Rosa whom she is related to Marisol husbands survived and immediately got treated got sent to the children's hospital of los Angeles ca. she has receive severe brain damage she is unable to speak nor walk she is in vegetal stage. Marisol Morales got sent to antelope valley hospital where a past year she gave birth to Oscar Antonio in that particular hospital. Marisol was weak so she passed away. when I remember their funeral it was the worst day of my life. everything inside me collapse when I heard the news of their death. seeing them quietly in a casket frozen not telling jokes not holding my baby cousin not getting in trouble or every Saturday going to little rock to play with our quads just enjoying the weekend. knowing that I will never see them ever again listening to their sweet voice listening to their laughter. life now is not the same anymore we both had big dreams to make it in motocross. now when ever I see my atv it just brings back the good old memory eating dirt, showering in mud. wrestling in mud falling of when making too much doughnuts. I miss my cousin so much its been 10 years since I've last seen him I miss them so much they were my only family in California that we always got each others back. when I saw the news my heart pounded slowly but hard whishing it was not them praying for not them, but God took them from me. I know when I die I will finally be united with them, and bring back the good old memory. They were too young to die but God needed them I can't judge him. when I saw Rosa that was very painful for me I knelt down when I saw her after the tragic accident she was on a wheel chair when she saw me she cried deeply I remember her as a beautiful girl with long black hair always smiling, laughing loved to have a good time playful, very pious. we both had a huge crush always blushing when we got teased. but now I haven't heard from her she will always be that beautiful playful girl that I met. they are the memory that you will never forget. Hello,

I came across your pictures looking for a hiking spot using Google Earth recently. I'm interested in these roadside memorials as well and as a previous comment mentioned, they do make us stop and think. I found information on the above picture and included two links. You'll notice the last name is "Rice" not "Rico".

I came across your photos by pure coincidence. They represent an unusual contribution to Panoramio and make us stop and think.

Saw a motorcycle accident happen a few years back in front of me. Drunk driver. Got out of the car and nothing could be done. Later, a giant cross was put up.

Since then I have been noticing crosses on the side of the road. I, too, live in the AV.

Started taking pictures of these crosses on the side of the road since last year. My neighbor's son was unfortunately in an accident too. Felt awkward about taking pictures. It is nice to know that someone memorialize them too. Felt awkward about the pictures.

If you want to some locations of places please shoot me an email or facebook me. The three crosses on the side of hwy 14 got me. Cross too. Can't find it.

Keep up the good work
