Greetings from Damascus

There are a multitude of sleek, well fed and confident cats in the Old City of Istanbul, for which there appears to be much affection. In some places there appears to be one or two in each street. In the bay, I saw cats spaced all along the shore line, fairly equally spaced apart.

position is approximate. I was impressed by this fragile appearing construction cling to the top of a tall building.

I have placed this alley in the area of the Old City of Damascus where I think I was at the time, but bear in mind its position is approximate.

View of the immense ruins of Temple of Baal in Palmyra seen from the new town of Tadmur. The Temple area occupies a little over 4 hectares.

In the foreground is the ruin of a tomb (approx. 200 AD I believe), with a modern hotel in the background.
