The bridge is named the Bow Bridge; it is considered the most beautiful of Calvert Vaux's Central Park bridges and overpasses. The most remarkable thing to me about the Park is that it is essentially 'man made'. The area where it was developed originally had very little in the way of greenery. They blasted through tons of granite, brought in soil and 1,000's of trees, shrubs and other plants. It was a mammoth undertaking for the public good.
