Maybe the A380 is sad about being the climax and zenith of a long line of development - I have read that future mega-planes will no longer follow the pattern of a long tubular fuselage, but that of a single-wing. It is aerodynamically more efficient, but only controllable with massive computer assistance. Well, that's what every bird does easily and continuously - adjusting its aerodynamics ...
