True, the channel bouys are of more use when entering the marina at night! The lighthouse actually sits where (10 years ago) the road used to be. The area now used by the marina was just swamp land and the road used to run along the beach from where the photo was taken. This development has done a lot to improve what was a quiet little deserted beach and road junction.
Taken from a ridge pockmarked with sandstone caves, this photo looks northwest towards historic Gaviota Pass. You can see the tunnel entrance for the northbound lane of US Highway 101. Another nearby strenuous hike will lead you to Gaviota Hot Springs
If you take one of the mangrove forest and eagle feeding boat trips that departs from the the Tanjung Rhu fishing village, you will get to see scores of eagles being fed, a true photographers delight. Put your camera on a fast lens setting or everything will be a blur.
