My photos are mostly of the Western landscape. I try to document the "wide open spaces," and, of course, my photos make things look more attractive than they really are. I generally avoid uploading photos of the classic places because Google Earth will not benefit from more photos of them. Contact me at rmaughan2 AT cableone Dot net

Tom Cooper,

Ha! I looks like it, but no. I stood on the wet gravel next to the edge of the flowing water, and set the camera to macro and about F:29. I tried to hold the camera horizontally about 3 inches above the water. After about 3 tries I got what I wanted.

The road is so small, the valley so big.

I was looking at your photos on the map, and was almost shocked. Is there anyplace in the Rockies that you haven't been yet?

Pretty nice view, and good shot! LIKE

Bruce,

Yes. They did a very good job of logging. Many big trees were left. The logging trail was firmly closed to motor vehicles. There was a small clearcut too, but OK given the variety of cutting methods used.

Nice composition, Bruce! LIKE. Friendly greetings, Petr

Thanks J.c, it is a beautiful area, we had some great weather too. I appreciate the visit, Greg.

This is great and not unusual. I have seen it other places, but there are too few of them.

Greg,

Yes the recent photos do show the rain. And it continues. It has drizzled or rained most of this day here in Pocatello. That is 9 days in a row with precipitation in August. Last summer at this time it was smoky, hot and dry. I recall that Aug. 2012 had wildfire smoke in the sky here until just after Oct. 1.
