According to this article, there are differences. We call them aspen west of the Mississippi- http://www.gardenguides.com/108324-difference-between-birch-tree-aspen-tree.html
A nice memory to have. Perhaps too your father took you to nearby Lake of the Woods. I have fished neither.
This photo was taken just after we showed up to boat. It was during that unusual July cool spell, and a thunderstorm emerged right over the water (in photo). It slowly grew, but lasted the rest of day.
I really appreciate the L+F, Eva, good to have you visit my gallery again. Also appreciate the fun comments from stett3, JAM57 and Pam -- thanks.

Hi Roeli, and Juan, thanks for your kind words, glad you stopped by. Best Wishes, Greg.
Hi Luca, thanks so much for your comment, it was an amazing day. Best Wishes, Greg.
Thanks!! THis was taken on a surprising tough hike because of no trail, the grass was tall, and it was mostly wet slippery from a just passed rainstorm.
The photo looks a bit different because it shot it with a Nikon Coolpix P510, which has a very long zoom. The focal length equivalent here is 1000mm!
They always make a great backdrop. Great fields and clouds. Greetings, Greg.
Wonderful scenery and photo! YSL. Best wishes, Jessie
