Yes, Yellowstone Park and the surrounding high plateaus, mountains, and forests (Greater Yellowstone) have long been one of my favorite places. Over the years I wrote two hiking/backpacking books about these places.

This scene appears every year late May to about mid-June on all the meadows around this canyon and nearby Pebble Basin. It's yellow wyethia. It needs a wet meadow, but one that soon dries out, to complete its cycle. Now in August these meadows are brown, the leaves crackle when you walk on them and dust blows. Wyethia also has a characteristic smell. It is hard to say whether it is pleasant or unpleasant.
