This "Big Wheel" is part of of the Corliss Steam Engine that once ran a big lumber mill. The engine was a 478 horsepower steam engine operating on 120LBS.P.S.I of steam pressure. The engine weighs in at 63,000 pounds with a 22-inch cylinder and 42-inch stroke. The wheel is 16-feet in diameter and turned at 100 RPM. It weighs 20,000 pounds and has a 42-inch face. The "Big Wheel" was manufactured by Allis Chalmers in 1909 and operated continuously at the Fidelity Lumber Company for 55-years, cutting over 1-Billion board feet of lumber. It has been on display outside the Newport Museum in Newport, Washington since 1965.

Correction... it looks like the new consensus is that the Schwartz cabin is on the west side, not the east side, somewhere between Outlet Bay and Shoshone Bay... if anyone has seen this moving cabin, just leave me a note.

Hey Kaniksu Man,

Someone else, Doug, has suggested the same thing that you did... that the cabin location appears to be on the west side... here is what Doug said...

"From these pictures this location is on the west side of the lake looking north and is about 2-2.5 miles north of thye outlet. It is just a bit north of a cabin my father built in 1932"

So it looks like you are right, not that there was any doubt... I just had a bit of a hard time letting go of a long standing assumption that was playing out... I'll try to follow this new direction.

Thank you so much,

numetro

Hey Kaniksu Man,

I posted 4 more photos, a couple of which may contain clues to where the cabin is, or was, located based on the island/peninsula silhouettes in the background... I'm not sure if these will help... also another photo of the cabin.
