The rail track used to bring the Asphalt ashore was dragged to a different place each night, as otherwise it would have sunk into the morass under its own weight.

What a terrific photo. At first I thought how cool it was that there was an old fashioned Travel Lodge to stay at in Bishop. Then I noticed the classic cars and it dawned on me that this was actually a vintage photo. It looks like it was taken yesterday. Thanks for the photo.
I was there in the Pitch Lake and couldn't believe people used their own hands to dig it and push the yellow wagons into the factories. I have some decent pics of it in my profile!
